Ong Larson
Co-Founder
Alpha male, business owner, only son. Put these into an Asian context and Larson represents the perfect persona who cannot be seen asking for help.
Larson co-founded his award-winning agency, Visual Studio Singapore, when he was 24. He made his first million and ticked all the conventional 5Cs by the time he was 30.
His small win came at a huge price as his mental health suffered. He struggled with depression for 2 years before psychotherapy and counselling turned his life around.
Today, he is a serial entrepreneur, avid boxer, and mental health advocate. Larson is also the co-founder of Candour.

Velda Wong
Co-Founder
As someone who never wanted her life, Velda grew up asking herself what's her purpose on Earth. With the mindset of "I didn't asked to be born", she often felt suicidal from as young as eight years old. She finally snapped out of that when she found meaning in volunteering at 13.
She continues to find fulfilment in her goals and pursuits and is grateful for finding her higher calling before 25. Her experiences have shaped her personal values such as placing importance on how we treat people; and to always remember what kind of a person we want to be in this world. She also used to be someone who couldn’t take failures.
Velda is a passionate civil servant, aspiring professional pianist and an active mental health advocate. Velda is also the co-founder of Candour.

About the
Project
If there is one thing the COVID-19 pandemic changed drastically, it is the pressure on business and community leaders to care more about the mental well-being of their people.
As employees return to work from office, there is no time to waste and no reason for inaction. But who is tasked with looking after the mental wellbeing of our leaders?
“Nurturers Need To Be Nurtured”

#WMHD2022
To commemorate World Mental Health Day 2022, we are putting together an e-book to share 10 Singapore leaders' intimate stories about mental illnesses.
LEADERS DON'T CRY hopes to humanise leaders, normalise mental health conversations at our workplaces, and fight social stigma against mental health conditions.
